Default Footbrake assist

I may have answered my own question here but does the xc have some sort of brake assist, on my way out tonight I had to do an emergency stop (a kitten shot from under a parked car ) I hit the brakes hard but then it felt like someone had put an invisible foot on the pedal as well ! the car stopped dead , no drama at all , strange but very impressive

I'm pretty sure it has something called Emergency Brake Assist, but what it does exactly...

Yep, thats what it does. If you apply the brake quickly it adds extra pressure to assist, so the brake pedal feels just as you described. I discovered it by accident when I caught the pedal with my clutch foot (in a manual V70). It gave me quite a start!

Smile Pedal sinks further?

I also found this on my S60, if you really jam the brakes on in an emergency the pedal sinks further as if its lost hydraulic pressure, quite a surprise the first time you encounter it ! (especially as you would only brake like that in an unusual situation!) i think its called EBA (emergency brake assist) or something like ..

Yep - i've experienced this too. Must admit I was quite impressed by it as I hadn't realised it had it either.
Same reason - stupid cats. What I wasn't prepared for was the shower of colouring pencils, pens and assorted books arriving in the front having departed my kids laps a tenth of a second earlier from the rear... :-)
