Interesting - what car do you have?

I guess the line you found is meant for the mirror puddle light. Next time I’m going to look for any 12V supply that’s active while the car is awake and probably use that - who cares if the door is lit at the bottom when it’s closed? Lol

Mine is an 2013 S60 T5. It is the feed for the mirror puddle light which I've set to stay on for 90 seconds and I've timed it. The only earth I could find was directly onto the door panel bolts and I couldn't find a 12v anywhere else.

I think I've worked out how to get into the door loom connector so I'll have a go at that tomorrow and let you know what I find.

I've finally got mine fitted and working. The best solution for me was to tap the wires of the footwell lights at each side and feed the wires out and into the door. Mine didn't have the fittings installed so I drilled a 18mm hole in the bottom of the door card and mounted the puddle lights in there.

It's a fiddly route through the door, pillar etc and it involved a lot of swearing but I'm happy with the end result.

Nice one!

How did you get the wires from the footwell into the door?

I'll post some photos later. It wasn't easy and you'll need the patience of a saint, which I don't have so a lot of industrial language was used instead

This is the cable route I used to get power to my LED puddle lights mounted in the door cards. If your car already has the wiring and fittings you don't need to spend hours swearing. I used a long bit of copper wire from some heavy duty mains wiring to thread through the holes before taping on the LED wire and pulling it through. Like a big sewing needle.

Sorry, some of the photos won't go the right way up but I hope you get the idea.
