Default oil level - malfunction in the sensor?

Since this Monday (car has been in garage in the last 2 weeks or so) everytime i check oil level, i get this message from Sensus as you can see in the link below.

https://ibb.co/D7ZZdCb

oil in excess. Previously all was ok i guess, with the blue bars indicating the normal (almost full) oil level. And in the last two days after i drive and stop the car and start the engine again, the blue bars (previous situation) come back again just like nothing has happened.

I don't get it. Sensor malfunction?

Suspect you are suffering from the failed DPF regeneration problem. Lots of discussion on the issue here which you may find useful:

I had this situation after a software update (for another issue) and it wasn't connected with a failed regen.

It went back in and they drained the oil, performed another software update then re-filled the oil.

Have you recently had a service by a non volvo garage?

I had the same situation three weeks ago. I took it for an 80 mile trip on the motorway and when I got home, the oil level was back to normal.

No. I had only one service so far since i bought the car. It was done at the dealership. 30.000 km as you know. It was done back in November/December 2019. And all seemed fine until this week, last Monday, when it started showing this "Oil in excess" message.

Exactly. That is why i said:

My understanding is, and I’m sure that there is someone on this forum more knowledgeable than me, that can correct me if I’m wrong, that diesel dilution of the oil, will raise the level, but because diesel is more volatile than the engine oil, the diesel will be vented out of the crank case breather system, when the engine is hot enough for long enough.

So a blast down the motorway would cause the overfill warning to go away by itself.

hummm... i see. Do you think it's something i should worry and take the car as soon as possible to the dealership? As you probably know, we're in emergency mode i mean we as a country, and now it's a very complicated phase to go to the dealership and to be honest with you, i have no intentions to do it unless it's really serious and i might take the risk of ran out of engine in the middle of nowhere.

Well with prolonged journeys this would indeed happen as the temperature of the oil inside the engine will be well over 100C . I cannot see this evaporating off a litre of fuel in one journey though .
