Default Haldex AWD system

This is my first car with the Haldex system, I have owned older more primitive 4x4's.
Anyhow from what I am reading the Haldex system has a little lag before engaging, so if you do get stuck it might require a few sec on wheel spinning before Haldex fully engages. How this works with DTSC on should be interesting.

Are you sure ? My understanding is that it transferred the power to the appropriate wheels more or less instantly, ie fractions of a second.

The delay can be programmed. I seem to recall reading a report that some CR-Vs did not perform particularly well in a Swedish snow / hill start test, but then Honda 'adjusted' the characteristics of the system to improve performance in this test.

Not sure if http://www.awdwiki.com/en/haldex/ is reliable, but it says that Haldex Gen 1 and 2 react in a quarter of a wheel turn, whilst Gen 3, 4 and 5 are proactive, ie the electronics can pre-tension the clutch and activate all wheel drive before a wheel slip occurs.

I had a Yeti for a couple of years with the Haldex system. You were completely unaware of any delay. The car just drove. It managed in muddy fields, on untreated snowy roads. Fantastic. The only times I knew it was working was when I was not in the car myself and I could see front wheels not turning and yet it was still moving forwards. Don't worry about it, just enjoy.

I think what you are seeing is the Haldex system testing grip by spinning a wheel a 1/4 turn to see if it has gained any grip, some time after it noticed that there was no grip.

I think what you are seeing is the limitations of the video film affect on wheel rotation.

Interesting video here of the XC60 against a Merc GLK. I think the plan was to get the XC60 stuck and tow it out. Just refused to get stuck though.
