MY2011 new features: D5 has Geartronic with Sport-setting?
Hi,
Volvo launched 5.5.2010 news about model year 2011 new features. One interesting one would be that D5-engine with automatic transmission (Geartronic) will have Sport-setting. The news is on the page linked below. http://www.volvocars.com/intl/top/ab...spx?itemid=170 For some reason that feature is listed on Volvo web pages only together with new S60-model + D5 + Geartronic. How about XC60? Does anyone MY2011 XC60 D5+Geartronic owners allready reviewed that feature? |

The XC60 has that? If you put it into manual-mode but u donīt gear up/down, the car is in sport. Just like on the Bmw X5. Thatīs what I have read in the handbook.
"Geartronic - Sport mode (S)1 The Sport programme provides sportier cha- racteristics and allows higher engine speed for the gears. At the same time it responds more quickly to acceleration. During active driving, the use of a lower gear is prioritised, leading to a delayed upshift. Sport mode is obtained by moving the lever to the side from D position to the end position at +/–. The information display shifts the indica- tion from D to S. Sport mode can be selected at any time while driving." Last edited by VolvoXc60; Jun 25th, 2010 at 22:18. |

VolvoXc60, in my MY10 handbook it says the sport mode is only available on the T6. Has it changed for MY11 to include the D5?

In audi's there is a seperate sport mode in he fully auto mode and moving to +/- enables the same engine rev limits as sport but with manual shift

Geartronic / Sport mode
My XC60, MY11, did not display 'S'. Then, last week, I took it to have it's first service. It now displays 'S'. I thought I was going crazy! But having rung my local service agent, Apparrently, like the iPhone, the car gets a software upgrade, if one is available. This might too, explain why many of my personal settings had defaulted to Factory mode. So I have a meeting with. Technician tomorrow, whom, I hope, will explain all!

Your dealer is correct in that models after a specific Serial No can have a software update to provide the "S" geartronic function as per the below forum thread. Enjoy your new Volvo - you will certainly notice a more sprightly feel to acceleration........!! http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showth...=126700&page=3
