07 SE Sat Nav, No Fix on satellites
Hi guys,
Sat nav not working as not picking up any satellites. Is this going to be a problem with the antenna? If so, where is it and how easy to change? Not sure what the nav model number is but its an RTI system, has 5 plugs on back, under passenger seat and does not need the disk in to work. I have unplugged the power from the back and when plugged it back in the screen showed 5 (sats) then ran down, 4,3,2,1,0. Thanks in advance. Jim |

It can be the antenna (behinde the rear view mirror, up against the windscreen), or the GPS receiver in the nav
Easiest way to find out is to put the nav into diagnostic mode and see what errors it reports. No special tools required, just hit ENTER > BACK > ENTER > BACK repeatably during a cold boot until the splash screen appears

Quote:
Check the antenna connector on the nav unit Try a cheap eBay gps antenna replacement if you wish, this is the cheapest and easiest way to determine if the antenna or cable is faulty If antenna is faulty, replace with new or second hand unit. No coding required. Replacing the cable is much harder. It would be easier to run a replacement cable next to the existing one but you need the right coax with the right connectors each end.

Thanks again for all your help, any instructions anywhere on here or elsewhere that shows how I access the antenna? Need to pull the old one for the part number.
I checked and cleaned the cable fitting at back of Nav unit and seemed fine with no breaks in it down as far as the loom. |
