850 alarm wont arm
Hi
Has anyone got any advice, know of any troubleshooting document for an 850 alarm that wont arm? On locking, the red light doesn't start flashing and Ive tested with the car locked, window open, opening the door by leaning in - no alarm. Ive checked the bonnet catch as that was on one thread as common - and that looks to be working (no circuit in one position, there is a circuit in the other (I forget which way around it was, but it changes open vs closed!)) Appreciate any help. Cheers

Can anyone help out there?
I read somewhere that the alarm can ONLY be set using the remote fob and not the key? Not sure if thats true, can anyone comment? My restoration 850 only came with 1 key and no fob. I have got a second key up and working and I am on my second fob (theory is I bought the wrong type fob first time - for later years cars) neither seem to program up and lock / unlock the car / set the alarm. Can anyone advise? Should the alarm set with the driver door lock? If not why wont it? any ideas / suggestions? I have checked both bonnet and tail gate locks - they seem to be sending the correct signal (nothing when locked, 12v when unlocked) Can any 1994 850 owner please post a picture of their working fob? - so I can see if I have the correct one? Maybe the two I have purchased so far still aren't right?

I can confirm that (at least on a 97 V70) the key does NOT set the alarm. I don't have a working fob and so I always lock the car with the key, and it never sets the alarm.
If you've been just using the key, that's probably why your alarm doesn't arm! You need to get the fob working first, then worry about whether the alarm arms - with a bit of luck it will!

Just been out and tried my 850, the alarm will only set when powered on with the remote control, the red light only comes on when the alarm is set.
Using the key only locks the doors, nothing else. Also the deadlocks only set when using the remote control, if you use the key to lock the car the deadlocks do not work.
