wheel bearings?
hello. i have a 97 R V40 2.0 auto. 56k miles.
Have noticed that there is a speed related groaning/grinding noise coming (i think) from the front wheels. This noise appeared after a family tip to france where the poor car was heavily loaded & was required to cover an unusually high mileage over 2 weeks last summer. Is this the bearings? What else could it be. Not gone to the garage with it yet as I'd rather have identified a possible shortlist of problems before going down that route. if bearings, any idea on cost to replace? Many thanks. v40will |

RE: wheel bearings?
98 S 1.6
Yes sounds like the wheel bearing, mine did the same around the same mileage and failed its MOT for it. To describe I could only describe as soundling like knocking/ticking noise or perhaps like driving on a concrete motorway! Was quoted £60+ from AA service centres (plus 10% discount for members) though got fixed under warrenty. |
