Default 300 series confusion

Right then. Time to fess up and admit something. For the sake of simplicity, I thought a 460 was a 440 with a boot stuck on the back. A 760 was a 740 with a different engine and higher spec, ditto the 940/960, and a 164 was a bigger spiffier 144. I never thought much about it, but I assumed that a 360 was just a 340 with a boot stuck on the back, as I've seen 340s with boots. Having just checked out a thread about the world's best 360, it looks like a 340 (no boot!).

My confusion is now absolute. Will someone please tell me the difference between a 340 and 360; did they both come with and without boots or what? If the differences were nothing to do with the boot, what were the differences?

the main differens betweenthe 340 and the 360 is that the 360 only had the 2 liter engin and the spare wheel is in the back and not in the engin bay. the fule tank was bigger then the 340s(were 40 liters) the 360 had a sadel tank (50 liters). I hope this helps abit.

Okay, so purely internal differences then? I realise I put this thread in the wrong place, btw. Ooops.

360s also have the gearbox at the back and run a torque tube, but astheticly, they're ALMOST identical.
Park two next to each other and you could play 'spot the difference' easily enough. But if two drove past you youd be hard pressed.
Same for the 343, 345.

Hope this helps.
