08 Se sport roof rails
I have an se sport without roof rails.
I holiday for 6 weeks every summer and as my kids get older I need more storage. I enquired at a motor factors in Hereford about fitting the rails in order to get roof bars and Thule roof box for my holiday. The 'experienced looking' assistant told me it couldn't be done without removing the interior roof lining. Is this really the case?? |

The roof rails can be retro fitted but I am only aware of a dealer doing it - I have seen a red XC Sport gain a set of rails. Unless the dealer or specialist knows exactly what they are doing, I wouldn't risk it - too much to go wrong with an XC90 without increasing the risk of introducing water leaks!

Hi,
I have exact same model 58 sport, mine doesnt have roof rails either! However there are black plastic blanking plugs on the roof where the roof rails click into (thats what I was told by the dealer). Pretty sure you can buy the roof rails from the dealer or probably a cheaper option is to check fleabay, but make sure they genuine roof rails not the cheaper pattern items. Good luck! |

To be honest we dont need one at the moment.
No plans to go on a road trip which will require a roof box in the near future due to a new addition to the family in the next few months. Ample space in the boot for the trips we have planned. |

I recall a thread somewhere online which stated the roof lining had to be pealed back to allow these to be retro fitted.
Do you have a tow bar? As I've found that I need to take too much stuff camping to fit in the car & my roof box. To compliment these I've just bought a Thule bike rack which goes on the tow bar. If I don't fit the bikes, I can use this as a large shelf on which I place a huge waterproof bag. I know Thule do a shelf called an "EasyBase" with a matching box too. It may be an alternative for you? |

Rawas, don't want to hijack this thread - but yep eventually picked the car up last week! 58 sport D5.
I'll post up more details on one of my other threads when I get the pics sorted! |
