08 XC90 Ocean Race Edition
Hi all, I am sure this question has come up numerous times before but I can't find an answer..
As much as I love my second xc90 I am still struggling to deal with the softness of the ride/cornering issues (children very car sick ). I have until recently run a cayenne and previously an x5 sport, both much firmer ride and no sick children. Car still only has 50k on the clock and a previous 07 model had same ride, so not a tired suspension issue, just a soft one. I don't want to change my lovely car; is there a way to firm up the ride? Many Thanks Paul Last edited by Barrettbarrow; Mar 28th, 2015 at 13:06. |

Soft suspension on a 90? Sounds v odd to be honest. What tyre pressures are you running, the eco recommended 39psi?

Thanks for the response. I don't check them as often as I should but I do try and keep them at 39. You have prompted me to check them this afternoon though!

The Sport models use different springs and shocks I think....? Definitely different part numbers for some elements of the suspension anyway.
A popular mod. on the swedespeed American forums is to update the ARBs for thicker, stiffer ones. A search on that forum should yield results, although it might entail importing parts from the USA.

I installed Heico lowering springs, H&R spacers, and Bilsteins on mine and it was a night and day difference in both handling/ride and looks.

In what way is it odd? He's complaining about body roll when cornering which the XC90 is awful for as standard - regardless of tyre pressure.

He mentioned softness of the ride in addition to cornering. He may well be experiencing excessive body roll, but I don't in an SE and the Ocean race has uprated firmer suspension still, hence why I think it's odd. Tyre pressures do affect body roll, too low and you'll get excessive roll. Wheel size will also affect it to a degree.
