RE: How to turn off headlights/sidelights
They cannot be turned off whilst driving - you have to be parked!
It then depends on age of car, phase 1 cars - not possible, phase 2 cars - details in handbook. Although why anybody would want to turn off one of the inbuilt safety features etc etc etc....... Mike |

RE: How to turn off headlights/sidelights
I have only had my S40 for a couple of weeks now but I have driven several times at night with the headlights turned off because of this 'inbuilt safety feature'.

Err, so you had your lights on then, or are yours 'Dim dipped'?. My 440 and my new V40 has full dipped beam DRL's so I don't have to turn on the lights, and if you leave the lights in the on position they turn off with the engine anyway - it's only if you switch to sidelights thay any lights stay on when the ignition is turned off.

RE: How to turn off headlights/sidelights
I was at the dealer the other day getting a new remote for the alarm on my series 1 S40 1.8 CD and I asked about this.
On early series 1 cars - it can't be done. On later series 1 cars - Turn on side lights, pull and hold indicator stalk as if turning on full beam. Turn of lights and release indicator stalk. On series 2 cars - It's a software download available from the dealer. |
