Xc90 stereo
Hello. New here and trying to find my feet. I need some help please. My 2005 XC90s stereo is flashing on and off. There’s no rear sensors, satnav is doing the same. Hoping it’s an easy fix. Thank you

If the satnac display is also going off, as if it is loosing power, then it is likely a power loss. Measure the power supply, the easiest place is at the back of the navigation drive If the power is failling, then check the fuses and power distribution If you do not have a wiring diagram, PM me for help.

I had similar this weekend and was due to me putting a small box of tools in the rear passenger foot well. When I breaked the tools moved forwards under the seat and caught to MOST connector at the back of the satnav (two thickish optical 'wires', (red or orange if I remember).
Move passenger seat back and put your hand behind the satnav disk unit and pull out and plug back in the small connector... That fixed mine and I.hope it helps you. Cheers |

I know that in the past when I had a failed satnav unit it caused the whole MOST network to do as you say. I did a temporary fix by looping it out with a fibre optic bypass loop. Others have also done this for different failed parts of the network. It’s not expensive and is a good temporary solution or even permanent depending on what’s failed.

Hi When you say flashing on and off, what exactly do you mean? Is it flickering, or do you mean it works, nd cuts out and comes back on? How long do the working and not episodes last for? Does it work when you first start the car? There are a string of things that could be at play here. David

Stereo flashing on and off
Hi all,
Thanks for the replies. When I say flashing on and off I mean when i turn the stereo on it shows on for a second or two then goes blank for a second or two, comes back on and so forth. I can switch between radio, cd etc but there’s no sound, the eject cd says ejecting but nothing happens. The satnav comes up out of the dash, turns on, says no cd in drive but then doesn’t do anything. The reversing sensors don’t work either. I hope this explains the problem a bit better. Thanks again for your time 😄 |

Radio is showing classic ICM faults, can be fixed by Volvo Diagnostic in London.
