I have an issue with uneven cool air from the vents, the passenger side blows AC cooler than the driver's. Isn't that also something that warrants a re-calibrate?

So back to the O.P's question, how do you calibrate/set the heat/cool knobs?

Hi chaps, thanks for the advice. I've just checked the two hoses on the bulkhead going to the heater matrix and the left one is cool and the right one is quite warm. Neither of them hot, even with the engine being on for quite a while.

Bugger! Blocked heater matrix? I've read it's a massive job on these ph2 cars. Something I really could do without, especially at this time of year

Before worrying and jumping too far ahead, flush the core forwards and backwards first then see where you stand.

Is your coolant bright blue or green and debris free?

Thanks for that, i'll try forcing water through it both ways. Do you know if the pipes are easy to remove from the block? (I've not investigated yet - will have to do it at the weekend - if the weather is good!!)

The coolant is gen Volvo, did it a few months ago, no debris. I've had the car nearly a year, heating never worked properly since I bought it. It blew the tinyest bit warm when I first bought it, but now nothing, stone cold.

I don't know how to do it, but it cured my heater problem which is exactly what I had on a 2007 S60...one side hot the other cool.

To be honest it's what I would start with, its the easiest option if you know someone who can do it or have a local indie that doesn't mind doing it for a sensible fee

We had a similar question days ago with one of the hoses not warm, it was suggested to inspect the water pump. Aside from that, yes the heater cores can break inside with no exterior leaks. Not sure if that would really prevent the fluid from passing through. You also say the other hose is not really hot, could meant a stuck open thermostat.

Finally, for the uneven cabin temp, perhaps first a check the left flap arm is not broken, then perhaps a calibration may help
