BUT then I had a thought and reminded myself if the clicking noise coming from power window switches when the cluster would switch off. So I then decided to removed the drivers door panel and take out every electrical connection, plugging one in at a time and trying to see if the cluster would come back on. It didn't until I reinserted them ALL back in. Namely the two connection to the power window unit........now everything works, dash/dim/cluster/indicators/power windows all work. Dim/cluster has stayed on since I reseated those power window connections.

SK my advice is, RESEAT ALL CONNECTIONS. EVERY AND ALL THAT YOU CAN.
Glad to hear you solved the problem, a couple of questions .
Did you know of the snag with the window power unit prior to getting the dim fixed?
And do you believe the snag with the Window PU was the reason why the DIM was knackered AND IT wasnt a problem with the DIM?

If you get my drift.

My DIM is with Lucas atm.

John wilky, I do not know if infact my dim was faulty in the first place, just had all the symptoms, sent to Lucas and returned, Lucas has not told me if he done any repairs to the dim or if any faults were present. I refitted the dim and same problem persisted, then I checked all modules/wiring/relays etc. Reseating everything, ie checked and reseated ECU and module under bonnet, then started CSR to see if came came on. Then reseat all relays in cem, turn ignition on again see if dim came on, etc, finally I removed drivers door panel and removed tweeter connection, two conditions on window module and reseated each one at a time trying ignition to see if dim worked each time, dim did not work until both window unit connection have been reseated, hey presto. Dim working, and since has not went off. Happy indeed. I wished I had just investigated it my self first before paying £65 to get dim repaired. I feel it was the window unit switches which were shorting that caused the cem to cut out and dim to stop working hope all that makes sense.

Sent my DIM of to Lucaz ,and on the return it has worked a treat. Dont know what Lucaz did ( not had any feedback) but its got me through the MOT so i,m well chuffed withe both the service and the price.
Hope you have fixed your snag, got to be honest ,dont think I would have the wherewithal the time and the tools to do the fault finding .Hats off.
The £60 was well spent though imo ,it was me.
All the best .

Default Another DIM succesfully repaired by Lucas

Just a mention of the excellent service and quick turnaround provided by Lucas of VolvoDiagnostic. I sent my faulty DIM on Monday and it was returned, repaired, on the Wednesday morning. 2 year guarantee on repair. Great communications and great service. Recommended. No connection, just a satisfied customer.

Is it still likely to be mid-Feb?
I'd be looking to get mine changed soon.
