Power steering reservoir cap
My power steering reservoir always has a misting of oil on it, which I presume has leaked from the cap.
I just wondered if there was a different or revised cap to the one I have on mine. It's not that dirty on the pic as I wiped it clean a while ago. 2003 2.5T AWD V70

I'll give it a try, thanks.
If that fails I'll get a new cap.

Yes, flipping the seal usually works, it did for me for my Volvo and for the VW in the past.
Also, you can get second hand from car breakers. |

And you can use the seal as a template to cut a packing piece from a plastic milk carton to fit behind the seal, which will improve the sealing.

Power steering reservoir cap
Folks,
Is there a method to flipping this cap seal over ? Mine seems to be trapped under the spring -loaded mechanism. Looks like a pain to remove and a complete nightmare to re-fit. Thanks. |

You have to get creative with a screwdriver and stretch it out over the tangs.
Careful it tears easy. |

I have a cap that was bought new from Volvo that was fitted to my car for a week before I changed the reservoir to the facelift version. Cover postage and you can have it.

I'll take it if not!
I flipped my seal at the weekend and its not as easy as you'd think. 2 plastic pry tools did the job in the end, getting it back in wasn't much easier. A good clean up though and it appears to have done the job!

Tar for that.
Didn`t think it was so straightforward. Better to pay the £12 or so for a new cap , me thinks. What I will try first though , is make a plastic washer the same size as the seal to act as a spacer. Cut through from OD to ID and slip it under the seal without actually removing it. |
