Seat heater buttons illuminated?
Might sound like a silly question, but should there be lights behind the centre console buttons for heated seats and window demist?
I noticed this evening that those four buttons aren't lit on my 2007 XC90 so before I embarrass myself by asking the dealer for a replacement bulb I thought I'd check here first... |

I can confirm now... on my XC90 these buttons light-up orange when pressed-ON and nothing when OFF.

Sorry - I wasn't clear. I should have said: is there a green light behind the buttons when the headlights are on to illuminate them?
The indicator lights work OK but the buttons themselves are invisible in the dark. Sorry for the lack of clarity. |

Had this a few times on various P2 Volvos and it was cured each time with a 30 minute battery negative disconnect.
Only seems to affect the bulb serving the 4 button cluster for seats and window heating but not had to change a bulb yet.

Changed my bulb. easy job (for two)
Hi,
Mine were cured with a bulb change. (Didn't know about the reset option- thanks) Couple of tips if you need to change a bulb. Firstly take the old bulb with you as the dealer system identified how many of which type of bulb are in the whole unit, but not exactly which was which and they do vary. (Actually i just bought one of each and have some spares). Secondly, if you have an assistant you do not need to disconnect anything, just remove the gear lever surround then the 2 x T25 screws and lift out the whole audio and heater unit. Turn the bulb with a small screwdriver and get your assistant to hold the unit upside down to help it come out. If you are doing it alone and need to disconnect any wires remember to disconnect the battery first and wait a few minutes or you will bring on the abs service light. Ahhh the Volvo automatic catch 22, You have to have the key out of the ignition when you disconnect the heater control wiring, You can only remove the key when in park. When in park you cannot remove the heater unit. Is this some kind of Swedish humour?

Thanks for all the replies. I'll try disconnecting the battery for 30 mins first.
I've had the head unit out to wire in a Bluetooth adapter so I'm fairly familiar with that process. If the battery disconnection doesn't work I'll see if I can get the bulb out without disconnecting anything. |

SiliconS, How did you get on with this ? All of the background lighting in my centre console isn't working... it never has. Surely all of the bulbs cant be gone....... Ive checked with VIDA. I have no reported DTCS or issues other than no background illumination on my centre console buttons - such as seat, radio, delisted, phone buttons, and cruise button on the steering wheel (I THINK) etc. Last edited by colinbos; Nov 13th, 2017 at 13:36. |

UPDATE.
A 30+ minute negative discharge brought back everything, except the aircon and demister button lights, and the seats heater buttons. 4 in total. They have to be bad bulbs.... Can anyone help out with what bulbs they are before i take it apart ? |
