Problem new gaz shocks 940
Hello , fellow brickers.
I just purchased new adjustable GAZ shocks from claasic swede. I have problems with the lenght off the shocks. i ordered standard lenght shocks. When I compress my standard springs to the max, it's impossible to mount the top mount. The lenght of the shaft off the shock isn't right. The start of the thread is 4 cm shorter then a original shock. I contacted classic swede , butt he doesn't answer ! What's wrong with this ? Who can help me ? |

When you do get the proper length shock also make sure that it has the 'shoulder' on the top, otherwise it won't fit....

Well if the body is shorter then surely you have issues mounting it in the housing without it banging about? Looks like it's shorter to accommodate lowering springs and a modified body.

I'll put my money on them being a shorter open length and not stock length, i don't think there is any coincidence that the 1st shortened option on classic swede is -40mm for a 700/900

I had exactly the same problem with the shocks and springs that I bought. And the same lack of communication from Dai. I'd send them back and get them from a different source. Of course if he isn't replying to you then you don't have too many options. Not living in the UK is going to prove problematic too.
The other problem I had with them was the locating nut that slides down over the shock to screw into the strut tower. You can see that the original has a neck to the top of the strut body which helps locate the strut in the centre of the tower but it isn't there on the Gaz strut. That coupled with the fact that I got sent spacers and then got told that I'd need to cut them in half to get the fit right makes me think these shocks aren't even for these cars. |

Those who have been on here a long time know the history behind Classic Swede when there are problems, unfortunately people have short memories and he is still allowed to advertise on here.
Have a read on the LPG section. Those in charge of the forum know about this as well unfortunately. |
