Don't forget steering wheel, DVD drive, the shark fin on the roof, all the wiring. Also check with main dealer if you can (even) buy the software to make it all work.

A cheap and cheerful TomTom will give you better results and a wider range of facilities!

Thanks anyway people 👍

The DVD mechanism on my Sat Nav control unit was damaged and I have just replaced the whole thing with a unit from a scrapper. Does anyone know how to tell the ECU that its got a new device? The replacement unit works in as much as the screen pops up and the screen shows the loading process but neither the steering wheel controls or the remote have any effect.
I use my TomTom most of the time but it really irritates me to have a toy that doesn't work.
Thanks for any words of wisdom. Ron. 56 Plate 2.0 Diesel S40 SE

Hi,

As above, deffo a Volvo visit (or someone with VIDA, DiCe and a valid subscription) as the device needs to be paired to the vehicle via VIDA.

Des. . .

You might well find that only non-paired (i.e. new / unused) units can be updated to work with different vehicle. Same applies to remote locking fobs which seem to sell well on ebay but can never be paired with different car.

Of course, your S40 may be different as this section covers V70
