I understand. Go to your local garage and get the work done there. Stay away from the dealership & their rip-off servicing prices!

Car passed MOT and got a full service yesterday all for a cost of £198. A garage I have used for years for both my car and wife's car. Volvo dealership did call me a couple of days before chasing my custom for the service and MOT. I said to them... "You are far too expensive and my local garage is cheaper". The reply:

"Oh ok then, bye!"

They don't even try and fight for your custom anymore when you contest their prices...

Diy is not streight forward either depending where you live. First you have to have somewhere to do it, second you need the tools to do it and somewhere to store them, thirdly you need somewhere to dispose of the byproducts of the work, waste oil and filters are regarded as hazardous waste these days, my local recycling center will take the oil but not the filter for instance.

You can get around the difficulties but it's not streight forward as it used to be, paint the old oil under the car,or on the wooden fence, put the filter in the bin., both will have the environmental people on your back these days.
You need arrangements with those whom hold the correct licences to dispose of the filters and like tyres many have to pay an environmental charge to dispose of them so are not going to take them.
