Ah the sarcastic response raises its head.
If you had taken the time to read the posts you would have been aware that I have never been informed by Volvo about the recall, the franchised workshop had no idea what it was all about and have not come back to me.
Hence my lack of faith.
But don't let the facts stop a sarcastic response.

Therefore little point in recalling any of the affected cars.
Have you actually had your second letter announcing the recall is live and what you need to do ?
If not , it is not a recall yet ..

Car is running ok so not particularly worried but my faith in the Volvo service setup is rapidly fading.
What model and year is your Volvo, it may not be one of those being recalled hence no letter, those that have had a letter have stated on here that it informs them a recall is taking place and they will be contacted in due course to arrange a repair, you can't just turn up at a dealer and book it in for this.
There is no need to panic, even the dealers do not know yet what the repair will be, and when it is organised it will be done by calling people in, in a controlled manner or carried out during routine servicing rather than thousands of owners just turning up at their dealership.
This is the same as all other car manufacturers when a recall happens. Unless it is a really urgent safety recall when sometimes a short turn fix is required while they organise things.
Or in the case of Vauxhall deny there is a problem (heater control systems going up in flames)

My first older XC90 had a power steering hose recall because of an incident somewhere of the hose hitting the fan blade, the quick fix was taking it in for a two minute job to put a tie wrap on to hold pipe away from fan, later a bracket was fitted.

That is what is so convoluted about the whole "recall" saga. When I enter my VIN on this site.
https://www.volvocars.com/uk/own/mai...rranty/recalls

I get this message.
Status: Recall INCOMPLETE

One or more outstanding campaigns have been highlighted therefore please contact your nearest authorised repairer, as soon as possible, to arrange for the remedial work to complete.

From that it is reasonable to deduce that it IS a recall. But when you contact them they either know nothing about it or tell you not to worry if you have no symptoms as per letter, if you ever had a letter that is.

Mine is a MY16 D4. I am not at all panicking.
As for the rest see my reply to Clan above.

For you it is not a recall then ....yet , try not to worry about it ...

Not at all worried by this, just not very confidence inspiring in the event of a REAL recall.
Car running OK and if it should self immolate I am sufficiently mobile to exit stage right. It is what we have insurance for and it is only a car.

I agree. I remain more worried about the effect upon secondhand values whilst Volvo dither and fail to announce a permanent solution. However the 'permanent solution' for the EGR cooler was a massive disappointment...

I patiently await my second recall letter from Volvo, as instructed by the first letter. However the DVLA website confirms that my vehicle registration has an outstanding recall, plus a VIN check on the Volvo website states that "One or more outstanding campaigns have been highlighted therefore please contact your nearest authorised repairer, as soon as possible, to arrange for the remedial work to complete", so it is unsurprising that many owners are confused about the recall status.

Since you are not part of the recall, what are you worried about. Seems to me that you are looking for something to worry/compain about.

Yes I agree, you sound a bit miffed that your not part of the recall.
