The way I figure it: If you're gonna tool-up a factory to manufacture giant plastic parts like a dashboard, you can tool it to make anything just as easily. Instead of absurd rear lights, how about offering something really different, such as a genuine walnut dashboard. It can still be milled out by automated CNC machinery, the flat panel then attached to an ABS framework, it wouldn't actually be that hard. It would bump Volvo right up there in the high-class arena, and I reckon customers would flock to it.

Just take a look at these and drool...

Even my Ford Cortina had wood on the dashboard. I wanted it for the tops of the doors, but I couldn't afford a Ghia interior, but the GL had it as standard.

As standard!

No, I don't think it's too difficult, nor too expensive. Luxury and Quality are not synonymous.

My V70 has the aluminium trim which looks ok, it just seems to be a bit prone to dents/scratches. Is the fake wood trim on V70s prone to scratching/wearing or any other issues.
wait to see my tastes

For a professional looking job, vinyl wrap has to be the easiest option to change trim colour - used it on my previous V70 and the results were perfect first time.
Get a roll of eBay.
