If towing the car to a main Volvo dealer is a problem, the clone VIDA/DiCE kits which can be purchased on ebay quite cheaply and run under Win7 on a laptop are quite reliable. I have one for my 2012 XC70 and it does everything that the dealer's set will do. Mine runs on an old IBM ThinkPad which is a very robust machine. It will also run on a current laptop under a Virtual Win7 OS through something like Oracle VM VirtualBox which is free software. Even if you feel you have to buy an old obsolete laptop upon which to run it, the total cost will be around €100 to €150. Cheaper than a tow and you will have the diagnostic kit forever.

My price estimates seem to be out of date. Amazingly the prices have actually risen since I bought mine. I paid about €70 and now they are over €100. I didn't check the prices because with all these diagnostic clones over the years they tend to get cheaper and cheaper but world markets have obviously been skewed by the pandemic and I should have checked the prices before I posted. If you have a laptop you will be able to run it through a virtual W7 OS so €150 might still cover it. Sorry for the inaccuracies.
