Hi guys, Many thanks for the info and your valuable opinions. I think I shall err on the side of caution. I have just read that with 80w or 100w bulbs a great deal of the extra energy is given out in heat and only a small amount in actual light/brightness.
In my youth I had a total run of 5 Golf GTi`s and ran 100w/120w and never had any problems. Anyway I am now a wrinkly and worry about abso bloody
lutely everything. I think I shall go for Twenty20 daylight 150, Phillips Racing Vision GT 200 or Osram night Breaker Lazer as reco`d by Auto Express and you guys. Twenty20 is a new one on me but reports are very good. Many thanks again chaps for all your time and trouble. jack

I've fitted a set of the 'jewel' headlamp units from the facelift C70 (2002-2005) to my V70 and the light output is seriously good. No need for any HIDs with them. What suprised me was that they are completely clear lenses, but are made of glass not plastic like most modern cars.

Definitely worth getting a set whilst they are still available.

Just get some decent HID 5k h7 kit installed.

Best investment ideas done for the car.

Hi, I looked into installing jewel lenses ages ago but decided that they are too expensive.
I already have an HID 5000 kit fitted as referred to in my opening thread.

Generally HID kits fitted into head lamps that are not the projector type have nearly no pattern you tend to get a circular light as appose the a straight tick I have ABM projector headlights with matching indicators and H7 LED bulbs the start up is instant so no flickering like with HID and the light output is fantastic and beam pattern is perfect although this is an expensive option it really transforms the front of the car and gives a slightly more modern look

As the road user coming the other way I'd be more concerned about the cut off and focus of the beam pattern than the overall wattage.
Not entirely sure what this all has to do with the wiring/plugs on my car....

I have had numerous 70 serious cars and the only one with lights worth a w*** is the one with non standard lights....

Never failed an mot & never been flashed as the are adjusted correctly

Hi, The light from my 5000k HID bulbs is truly fantastic but there is just no cut off line and here it fails ITV [ MOT ] because cars must be fitted with their original lighting system, ie halogen in my case. I have to wip the HID`s out and replace with halogen just before ITV. No big deal once a year, just a pain.
I think I shall just settle for a pair of 55w H7 Phillips Racing vision GT 200.

Just saying if you have a pair of 55w, or a pair of extrabright 55w, or a pair of 100w, I doubt if anyone could tell just by looking, and since yours are correctly adjusted I'd rather meet you with 100w than a maladjusted 55w driver
