speedo cogs
Sorry as it was many years ago I cannot remember the cog ratio but I am sure there were at least 3 versions. My car is automatic and I think the m41 overdrive gearbox has a different cog ratio. You must be able to find this out because thats what I did when I had the problem unfortunately I cannot remember where I got the information it might have been on this forum?
The difference is only small I think the inaccuracy of the speedo is less than 5% Just looked it up reading 30 mph (48.28 km/h) is actually 29.74 mph (47.87 km/h) https://www.tacomaworld.com/tirecalc...0r15-195-65r15 Hope this helps you. Gavin |

Speedo drive gear part # 380861 1800ES Auto with 3.90 rear axle.
1800ES with M41 used 4.30 rear axle. Due to the BW35 box not having an overdrive ratio the effective top gear ratio with the 3.90 axle is approximately the same as the M41 OD ratio using the 4.30 axle. |

Recently changed our tyres
We've just changed from 165s to 185s on our P1800E (1971). We also changed from stock to minilite wheels. We didn't notice much difference. If anything it's slightly lighter.
That said, we had the steering geometry checked/corrected at the same time, which may have improved matters. |
