Hurricane Ciara tested my leak repair on the sunroof drains this weekend. Pleased to say it was dry inside, a result!

I bought aftermarket bleeders too, they did screw in but the threads were significantly wider and I think to remember they were leaking a little. Suffice to say, I now have nice collection of genuine used ones from the junkyard. Whenever we fight with a stuck one, if it finally comes out, we should always replace with a good one - I lost a caliper when tightening back a stuck bleeder

Always good to get a translation, some phone apps can read /translate from a picture. But as long as there is no red or yellow triangle warning light , shouldn't be a critical message

Exhaust and engine covers
Not today, but on Saturday, I had a cat back stainless steel custom exhaust built and fitted to my V70T.
It now has twin exiting tailpipes and the centre resonator removed. Today, I replaced my standard black coil pack cover, timing belt cover and fuel injector cover for the R version, in blue. Looks excellent! Reverse Intercooler Pipe in stainless steel and blue silicon hoses next, i think.

Today I ordered a new trim that runs along the edge of the windscreen and side of the roof after mine somehow disappeared, conversation with local dealer parts chap went like this:
Me: I need a new trim (explained which) Him: The good news is they come ready painted Me: That means they’re expensive? Him: Yea, £103, but you don’t have to paint it... What colour is your car? Me: 462 Sapphire black Him: Oh sorry, they’ve only got blue or gold!!! Me: Erm, either?? |

Today - The first dry day since picking up the new T5 was mainly spent surveying my purchase.
Few other things managed to get done: Disabled the DRL option to try and prolong the life of the bi-xenon headlights and lenses. Replaced a couple of blown interior bulbs. Removed and refitted a few bits of trim in the tailgate to try sort some of the rattles. Confirmed that the A/C compressor is indeed bolloxed and needs replacing. |

Fitted a full Ferrita exhaust system to my S60 on Sunday.
Its quieter now than with the old standard system on! Nice deeper tone though and less lag, also a little better on fuel which is nice. Just won a S60R inlet pipe which should help it breathe a bit better too. |

Full service @ 169K, Shell Helix 5w/40, oil, air, cabin and fuel filters, all Mann. Just finished and I found the OS wiper needs replacing so order from ECP, collect tomorrow. Couldn't believe how cheap, £5.89 less 37% for Valeo with spoiler, half the price of NS?...ordered 2!!
Washing & cleaning tomorrow if the weather holds and I'll grease all hinges and catches whilst I'm at it. I'll check and get around to changing the brake fluid if necessary within the next week or two.

Busy Wednesday.
Finally!!! Yesterday...
I got time and decent weather to properly wash the V70T. Wheels and tyres cleaned first. Pressure rinse, snow foam, detail brush on badges and panel edges, re-foamed, rinsed with pressure washer. Applied fallout remover to whole car, left for 10 minutes then rinsed again. Tar remover applied to bottom half of paint, left for 5 minutes and rinsed. Soaped up the whole car again, but this time with shampoo in the foam gun. Washed the car with a noodle mitt and rinsed with garden hose. Dried off, awaiting decent weather today, to continue with the engine bay and interior. Added an additional power socket behind the dash, so my dash cam no longer has an unsightly plug visible on the centre console. Added some new fixings to the slam panel, under the bonnet and R injector cover. 👌 Booked in for additional work on the custom exhaust, on Monday. 200 cell stainless sports cat and downpipe, plus an additional resonator in the centre section. Don't want it too loud. Hoping I might get the car polished and coated this weekend, if interior space allows. Gary

I restored my "3 season" wheels but did more.
Thoroughly washed the wheels Wire wheeled all 8 contact surfaces. That makes for a dusty job. Wiped the thinnest of smears of silicone paste to said surfaces. Someday I'll discover what application actually prevents that horrid oxidation. Then I thoroughly washed the snow tires. What rinsed off those wheels was vile. A bloke gave me 4 steel wheels identical to and newer than my rusted ones. However, my snow tires have a season or two left in 'em. I have to decide whether to swap the rubber over to the new wheels or just wear the old snows out. Given the oddness of this dopey plague I think I'll just lay low. Are y'all "social distancing" over there yet? You will be. |
