Well my V90, which because we are now only allowed short journeys, I have decided to mothball till whenever.
The OH's petrol Honda Jazz will be used more often. Now the question - I have a cheap Lidl 'smart charger' which is nothing exotic but seems to work very well. Do I leave it plugged in 24/7 for goodness knows how long till this C/V19 thing blows out. Or leave it on for say 24 hours, unplug it, leave for a week, then repeat. Your thoughts and advice appreciated.

If it's a smart charger you dan leave it connected indefinitely. I'd be happy to leave my Optimate or a Ctek plugged in continuously, but not so sure I'd trust something from Lidl.

If I were to go for an Optimate charger, which model would you recommend?
Any other makes/models would of course be considered.

A close out post from me with thanks for all the advice.
I have purchased a CTEK charger. I have also purchased what they call a comfort extension lead set which is a low voltage extension set so I can leave the 240V side of the set up in the shed and simply run the extension out under the bonnet. Thanks again.

I have the same model purchased from Aldi 2+years ago for £13.99 and never missed a beat. It's left in the garage and when not used for a week I just open the bonnet and connect it until it shows charged. Simples! |

A bit late catching this one.
I went through a period where my V70 wasn't getting much use. So I bought a solar batter charger for caravans on ebay (loads of different ones at different (very) prices) and would just put it on the top of the dash and connect it to the battery (but NOT via the cigarette lighter socket). And, for safety, I put an in-line fuse on to the postive lead! Less than two minutes to connect/disconnect it and never had a flat battery after using it.
