Default key less entry problems

The driver door keyless entry has stopped working , I had this happen before and it went it and had the complete set replaced. I'm sure Volvo will fix it, but what worries me is the car is nearly out of warranty and I can see it happening again.

What are peoples thoughts???

Try a new battery - or is it both keys ? Are the other three doors OK ?

It works fine on the other doors , last time it was the boot and passager door.

My point is do you think this will happen again?

Seems to me that the first repair did not address the root cause of the fault.
I would write to the dealer and explain the problem has re-occurred and request a warranty repair, noting this appears to be a repetition of the first warranty fix. Also state you expect this repair to be '100%' or you will expect them to honour future 'out of warranty' claims on this specific fault. Be polite but clear.

I've a 2011 V60, Keyless Entry stopped working on drivers door but worked on all other doors. Took the car into Volvo to get ABS Sensor fixed, mentioned about the front door keyless entry not working, now right side passenger for keyless entry has stopped working? I can't be arsed to argue the toss with the dealer......

Is the problem with the aerials in the door?

Its been a while, but I recall there are various sensors in the car to pickup the keyless element. It's possible that the sensor covering the affected door has died.

Isn't there an issue on older models of our cars whereby connections within the door handles corrode, leading to loss of the ability of the antennas to pick up the key? I think I read of a revised part. My car is a 2011 model and the keyless doesn't work on any of the doors, only the tailgate and ignition. That perhaps suggests a common failure across the door handles from which the tailgate button is protected. In my case I'm not going to fix it. I can live with using the remote fob.

If its just a corrosion issue can this not be a easy diy fix?
Is it easy to remove the door handle without taking the door card apart

I see there was a technical service bulletin issued about this problem
TS 26520
DESCRIPTION: No or intermittent unlocking function from door handles on S60 vehicles with Keyless drive may be caused by:
Low pin tension at the harness connector.
Corrosion at the door handle/harness.
SERVICE: 230mm (9 inch) long extension cables are available for repairing the harness Extension_Cable.JPG .
Front door: 31358682
Rear door: 31382553
Remove the inner door panel, repair the harness and ensure the routing is as shown in Harness_Routing.JPG .
Notes for when corrosion is found: See Corrosion.JPG . If corrosion is found, the door handle must also be replaced, as it is likely that the corrosion was caused by water leakage through the handle. See TJ 27787 for instructions on reusing painted outer door handle covers.
If the corrosion has extended deep enough into the harness that the copper is discolored at the location where the splices would be made, the harness can not be properly repaired with the extension cables; the entire door harness must be replaced.

wonder why it was not a recall
seems like a bitch of a job
