I had the exact same problem when I had a full exhaust and cat from Kwik Fit on my 850 2.5 GLT It was much noisier than the original exhaust that was blowing
and really boomy. I noticed the cat was much smaller than the original, I complained but they wouldn't accept any responsibility.

Hi Petrolblue, I think your experience is all too common. I must say I am very surprised that Klarius offered to send me a new silencer; especially given the shipping costs to spain. Good to know there are companies out there who care about customer satisfaction.

Well this is an instructive thread as the centre pipe broke completely off the silencer last night so I need a replacement ! It will be interesting to hear if the replacement Klarius is better than the first one.
Otherwise, can anyone recommend a decent exhaust system that is not significantly louder than the original? I am assuming the OEM will be v expensive but should check that. Cheers Joe |

The quality of the original (stainless) systems is actually pretty good, so I reckoned I'd rather repair the original than get an after-market replacement, and I'm glad I did.

I think they are just too busy with Christmas coming up . Ringing around, it seems mine is difficult to get a replacement as it is a MY2000 and has 2 silencers instead of 1. Not sure what the implication is of fitting the earlier exhaust ? 2.4 nonturbo Nov 1999. Joe |

Hi Joe, I have replied to your PM. My 1998 V70 has only one silencer but it is large. Assuming your has two smaller silencers it might just work to fit one large pre 2000 silencer. Maybe cheaper as well. I think OE silencer for mine from Volvo is about €450.00 over here so probably cheaper in uk.

They are quieter but my one has completely rotted out at the back hanger. So as for longevity of them I beg to differ. It's not just Volvo though, the pipes put on the cars at the assembly line is different stuff to what you buy later on even at the dealers.
