Adding Rear Camera
Hi all... Would anyone know if it's possible to connect a rear camera to the Satnav screen on my XC90. If so any suggestions on which camera and how I go about connecting it up to the screen. Many thanks....

Depends on your MY, but this one is much cheaper than the OEM part - https://www.volvotech.eu/vbb4-mc?mfp...-path%5B121%5D
takes a couple of hours to fit - but you need to be semi handy with the tools |

The screen takes a NTSC composite video signal for the camera BUT it is switched from normal RGB nav to NTSC rear view input using a databus signal on the LIN bus from the nav to the screen When the original rear view camera is fitted, this all happens automatically when Volvo load the correct software application to the vehicle. When you want to fit a non-Volvo camera, you need to find a solution that emulates the Volvo commands to switch the nav screen from RGB to NTSC composite video

The camera uses digital video processing with a fish-eye lens to give a great picture, even in a dark parking garage The guidelines also move with the steering angle to help you when reversingT

I got the OEM one and fitted it myself - good instructions supplied with it and fairly straight forward. I seem to remember it was more like £500 a couple of years ago from a local dealer. Might be worth getting a price from FRF as well?
It then cost about £50 for the local dealer to download the software and calibrate it, but it has been very useful. |
