Default Timing belt, MY2013 D5

Hi all

Are people generally being cautious and changing the timing belt early? The scheduled replacement is 6 years or 108,000 miles, my next service is due at the end of September 2018 (car will then be 1 months off of 6 years from registration) and it will probably have about 104,000 miles on the clock at that point.

In general are people leaving it that long or changing earlier? I am currently on 90,600.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts....

wimorrison, was thinking as soon as I get a job I might find someone to do it (not sure it's worth the money Volvo want now its "getting on a bit") especially as it is looking like it will be towing down to Spain at the end of July

How much does this cost as mine will need doing next year. Also when should the D5 automatic fluid be changed?

If you listen to Volvo then unless you are towing a lot the auto box is sealed for life and never needs changing, unless there is a fault.

Many here will argue differently, however that is what Aisin Warner and Volvo say

Crockers has a towbar so lets assume he uses the D5 for heavy work too.....in which case gearbox fluid change is every 36,000 miles and costs anywhere between £200 And £300 depending on who does it.

I would recommend it, my gearbox failed at 75000 miles. I had the fluid change at 61000 working on the basis for the first 30000 it had not towed, expensive mistake.
