Default Confused by my MAF

Hi,
I thought I'd clean the MAF sensor on my 2014 S60 2l VEA this morning. It was surprisingly clean however once I had finished and started the engine I decided to disconnect the cable from the MAF expecting the engine to stall or at least run roughly but there didn't appear to be any difference in the running of the engine. Then the cooling fan kicked in. The engine wasn't quite up to running temperature yet. I did this 2 or 3 times with the same results. I checked my codes and the only code was P1119 which points to the cooling fan. So my question is what is going on? Do I have a duff MAF sensor?
Would really appreciate any advice.
Thanks in advance.
