What's your average Volvo diesel MPG ?

My 13 plate d5 diesel auto xc60 is always about 41mpg overall I don't use for short journeys, always use good fuel and for a big lump of car and engine, the consumption is quite good.

A couple of years ago I enquired about a remap for our other car, and the insurers wouldn’t cover me despite me already having a current policy with them. This for a mild remap on a diesel Yeti for heaven's sake!.

Don't worry about the car age. I had an Octavia 4x4 remapped at 12 years old & 160k, and an Audi A6 Tdi at 13 years old and 120k. Both transmissions were fine when sold - the Audi had 460 lb/ft torque (620 Nm? Ish).

We have had several Yetis and apart from the odd rust bubble low down on the doors, they can take a lot !

My vintage 940 TIC auto 1995 has archived archived 40.mpg on a big run to Cornwall but does about 32 mpg local driving . Its got 297000 miles on the clock I've had it 23 years I will be doing about 5000 miles year now as I have just retired

My s60 (06) does 37mpg average, 45 on longer motorway run, according to the onboard crumpooter

My v70d5 euro4 geartronic 185bhp according to onboard computer will do 47mpg on a good run and is showing 40 normal

Had two XC60's, both manual, both amazingly good on fuel which we bought to go into Europe many times.

Our 2009 drive-E with the fabled 2.4 lump easily used to do 42mpg @ 80mph on the German autobahns fully laden.

Our current 2016 D5 AWD manual still manages 39-40 mpg @ 80mph on the German autobahns.

Compare this to the 1999 2.8TD Mitsubishi Pajero I had many many moons ago from new which did around 25mpg if you're careful... or under 20mpg at 80mph & in a different league!

Used in mixed driving, a 13 mile commute with motorway, A-4oad and a bit of urban, rush hour stuff I usually average around 40mpg on a tankful. On a recent holiday, over 800 miles of fast motorway, stationary and crawling motorway, and pottering around we averaged 41mpg, but this came down from about 43mpg thanks to a 2-hour delay when stuck on a crawling M5.

It seems to be as economical at 75-80 cruising as it is on my commute. Best numbers are if I set cruise and bimble along at 60 or so, but traffic rarely makes that possible hereabouts.

V70 2015MY D5 6speed man.215bhp

Almost never used for journeys under 20 miles (had old Jazz for that) 70k miles, central console infront of driver shows 49.3mpg. Never been able to reset it,now don't try. In the display which houses the navigation maps there's a setting which allows mpg to be shown for each journey. Anything over 50+miles on dual carriage way + motorway it will return 55+mpg.
