Default What are these for?

This morning I changed one of the font drop links on my V70 and while under there noticed there were two eye bolts fitted to the front of the sub-frame, one each side in the front member.

I presume they were fitted by a previous owner but would anyone know if they are a Volvo item and why they would be fitted to a normal road going V70?

Tried uploading photos but the site says there is some code missing, so to clarify, the eye bolts are screwed into the sub-frame in existing holes so that the eye bolts hang down from the underneath. One is in front of the engine oil filter and the other is on the opposite side of the car.

Hi

I have the same on my 1998 V70 T5.

I then looked at some other 1998/1999 V70s that I have. All of them have the holes in the front cross member, but the holes are empty.

Hope that helps,
Steve

Default Eye Bolts on Front Subframe

Thanks for the replies.

It more or less confirms my thoughts, but the only vehicles I have seen them on previously have been military vehicles designed to have capability to be regularly transported around the World.
