Parking sensors
Anyone know how to find what parking sensor is faulty? Sometimes they work flawless and other times it's a constant beep.
Also can you recommend an aftermarket sensor? Tia.

I just went through this.
You really someone with VIDA diagnostic. It will tell you which sensor is at fault. I replaced mine with one from Valeo, half the price of Volvo. Exact fit and worked flawlessly.

Tell us what exact steps you are going through with VIDA and then someone who knows more about how to troubleshoot with VIDA (not me) will advise you further.

If you're not seeing errors in VIDA and not receiving the associated "service required" message on the dashboard, then I think it is likely that this is 'normal' behaviour.
I've had a couple of 90's on which the parking sensors worked perfectly 90% of the time but had occasional days where they would operate continuously and/or for 'no good reason'. I suspect that as ultrasonic transducers they are susceptible to dirt and moisture on their surface causing false triggering.

I can't remember if mine showed a fault in the DTC tab. Have to see if saved a screenshot.
But go to Diagnostic - Vehicle Communication Select REM Then click on the parking assistance sensors. Don't have VIDA with me now but I recall you can pull up a history of the sensor. And if it's intermittent it should show up. Some faults need a few triggers for the fault to be registered in the DTCs

Mine are now constantly beeping but it shows no errors in either VIDA or on the dash. I suspect that one has got damaged some how but from the surface they all appear good.
Its a shame that there isnt a display like newer cars showing you where the sensors are picking up something as at least i could see which one was most likely. I tend to just turn them off at the moment. |

My rear park sensors will beep continuously on rainy days when they have become saturated with water.
The water seeps into the tiny gaps between the park sensor and the bumper and upsets the ultrasonic impulses. After the car has dried out they are fine again.
