Hello,

Has anyone had success rotating the clip at the base of the mechanism as was recommended in an earlier thread? Any photos/videos?

Shadeyman, did you manage to repair the mechanism?

Thanks!

No one in a Volvo specialist has done this.
Okay gently prise of back cover.
Look at the pivot spindle 12 mm in diameter it has a retaining washer over it which requiress removal.
Please ensure you buy this first 23mm od firting a 12mm spindle.i got 4 for £1.

Once removed there will be a plastic white rention washer with a location slot and a coil spring remove these and slide mirror assembly off the spindle
Now you can see a 7 mm thick circular disc this has 3 choices of seating plsitions. I guessed correctly that it had been acidentally rotated out of position through a knock.
I choose to relocate it with the darker rather than shiny edge towards me.
Re assembly is the reverse.
And hey presto all fixed and working no damage peerfect.
Of couse you have to sit and think of how it operstes but is not difficult.
This is taken from 2011 xc60 2litre d3 drive deisel
Hello Dsmith8.
I have read your post about fixing the unfolding mirror problem. At the last part of the post, you use the word operstes. I did not understand it. Can you use a similar word?
I have the same problem with my mirrors on my XC 60.
The pivot spindle was it easy to remove?
How much time did it took you to resolve one mirror?
I want to do what you explained in your post.
Best regards.

I can confirm the fix works perfectly. Thank you ncnmra
Free'd the large cable first, gave me enough slack to easily lift the mirror off. And i managed to get the Push Nut off without damaging it.
