Hi Guys
I am new to Volvo and just picked up my V50 2008 model on friday and so far I am very pleased I do however have a few questions I were hoping that you might be able to help with. 1. The cupholder between the front seats is missing and I have tried googling the cupholder in search of the part number but I am in doubt whether it is the right one. Does anybody know if partno. 8632669 is a cup holder for a V50 2008 model and whether I will be able to use the sliding cover after installing the cup holder? 2. I noticed some rust stains on both gas struts for the tailgate but cannot tell if is the strut it self of the "balls" mounted to the car that is rusting. Does anybody have experience with this and if it can just be fixed by replacing the struts or it is a more serious problem? Thanks. Daev80 |

The Dash and Centre Console is identical on the C30/S40/V50 to my knowledge, and 8632269 is the correct part number for the cup holder insert.
I have this as standard, and you can still use the roller cover perfectly fine afterwards - just not with a cup in it! As for the struts, not sure what the issue is - are you worried about the staining, or is there another concern? |

Thanks for the confirmation on the part no.
With regard to the struts I am not so much worried about stains as I am that is the parts (balls) that is mounted to the rear of the car that rusting, were mostly wondering if it a known problem and something I should worry about other than the staining. |

It's not really a common issue, it'll mostly be due to the conditions the tailgate has been under - quite possibly some trapped water in the tailgate closure at some point.
As long as the struts feel sturdy, I think the rust will be purely cosmetic. The ball joints are held firmly to the strut via the spring clips, and it would take a lot of abuse for them to become so corroded that they become loose |

Thanks..
I got of the US eBay which for some reason was cheaper than getting it inside Europe with the global shipping program. I guess I will just have to replace the struts and see what it looks like underneath they aren't functioning too well anyway. Daev80 |

I have V50 and automatic transmission. I accidentally put reverse gear while driving. Speed was something like max. 25mph. Then i realize my mistake and put D-gear fast. It was max. 1 sec on reverse.
I dont have any problems my transmission, it changes smoothly. So there did not happen anything bad? Yes i know, my english is not so good. |

you should be fine, they design these expecting people to do that, the worse that generally happens is the torque converter can overheat and die, but if it's still working and the kickdown still functions then your good, just try not to do it again haha.
