V70 T5 tyre wear

Hi.

I am contemplating buying a V70t5 auto. However a family friend who was a Volvo salesman for years has told me that you need to replace front tyres every 3000-4000 miles. Is this the case?

I'd love to know what the experience of current and former owners is. I used to have a C70t5 which ate tyres every 12000-15000. My current v40 lasts 40000 plus!
