Ok, if its a V90 with AAOS, that would have been delivered in the second half of 2022, that should have a radar in the front emblem and the camera in the windscreen.

Does the Auto High Beam assist also not work when the other things are de activated, I am not an expert but i would imagine if the radar is not functioning properly it probably de activates the other things.

I do get the auto highbeam function switching off on my drive to work as I go up a large hill when the temp drops the auto high beam deactivates, turning on the front demister brings it back within a minute or two.

Another question, has your software been updated to the latest version ?

I don’t think that’s right. My understanding is the AAOS cars have a revised ADAS system which includes a radar behind the badge in the grille which is heated, only the camera is in the screen housing. It is different from my previous V60 which was all behind the mirror.

My online manual refers to the front radar in this location.

So many interesting facts!! Thanks. I thought the radar was moved from the front to above the windscreen, obviously it has gone up and down in different models! My V90 is one of the first ones fitted with AaIs (2022 early). It is up to date with software (2.13.1) and, forgot to mention, the dealer never managed to get any code suggesting the root cause of the problem- hence why I was thinking it was a software glitch.
The active high beams may work or not based when pilot assist doesn’t work- for me as well they are generally fixed by demos to g the windscreen.
One thing that always puzzled me is whether insurance is valid or not if I have a a Covid net and at the time of the accident the ADAS are not working, with both me and Volvo knowing it! I would also assume that this error presenting when they turn on the engine for an MOT would result in failure, which is why ven more irritating. I am it saying that Volvo has abandoned me, but the car has had this problem for longer than 12 months and they deal with it as if it is just a little scratch on the dash. I suspect auto brake won’t work (don’t won’t to try!) if the error is present…🙄

Thanks for the info, I would contact the supplying dealer and ask them to have a look asap, especially now as the temp is low it should be easy to spot, does not sound like software, it does sound hardware related, could be your windscreen, which although was fine before 2.4 could have an issue in the heating element for the camera or it could be the radar in the emblem possibly heating element or damaged.

Its not a feature that it does not work below 6 degrees so is something that can be fixed, not easily but with daily temp low now, this is the time to get it in and have it looked at.

If they can plug it in when temp is low, the faults you are describing should be more easily found and demonstrated.

I just discovered that the warnings go away by restarting the engine. Firstly, upon entering the car i closed the door and started the engine and let it idle for a few seconds. Then i turned off the engine, briefly opened the door for a few seconds and closed the door again. Once i start the engine again, all the warnings are gone and the assistance systems are availablle again.
Though it is not a permanant solution, it is useful for long rides even when the outside temperature is below 0°C.

I have seen this once on my early 23MY V90. Conditions were freezing fog. First I got the warning that auto high beam was disabled followed by sensor errors disengaging pilot assist/cruise. I seemed to be able to get rid of the error with screenwash/wipe, but it came back after a time. One journey only - haven't seen it again since which makes me believe in my case it was a symptom of particularly adverse conditions.

Default It works for me as well!

Thanks- it appears to work for me as week. Clearly we have the same problem. Let’s post here if somebody gets a solution, so we can try to pass the info to the dealer and fix the problem.

Happy to help. I got the car diagnosed at a volvo authorised service centre as the car had volvo selekt guarantee. The heating element infront of the camera module was diagnosed to be faulty and the entire windshield had to be replaced. Looks like it had solved the issue as assistance systems seems to work as intended now.

I have exactly the same issue on my V60 by the sounds of it.

Volvo dealer has identified it as an open circuit in the camera only when cold, and wants to replace the camera (and the windscreen as it seems they can't replace the camera from inside).

The problem goes away after a restart if the heater has warmed the windscreen.

Same car has a bad misfire when cold that they have yet to get to the bottom of either.

Maybe Volvo no longer make their electrics to work when it's a bit chilly...
