Unhappy C30 D2 1.6D - Does DPF need changing, or can it be 'cleaned'

Car went into garage about a week ago after going into 'Reduced Engine Performance' and engine management light on.

Garage found P2002 error code and DPF efficiency low.

They carried out a Static Regen on DPF (which was effective in reducing soot levels down to sub 10%), replaced EGR valve, fuel filter, pressure sensor and pipe - at significant cost.

Gave me the car back and said fault code might come back on but to keep driving it to let car reconfigure itself. Warned if it does stay on then it's likely we need to replace the DPF Filter - and to brace myself as they are not cheap.

Lo and behold - 'Reduced Engine Performance' Mode and engine management light was on by the time I had got home 25 miles away.

I do mostly motorway driving in it and its at 89000 miles.

Is it time to change DPF filter? Is there a way to service/clean it? OR is there something we've missed?

The DPF does not need changing .... it should last for a long time , so they have taken your money but not fixed the car? They don't know what they are doing , they have done it by trial and error not by understanding how it works and finding the one faulty part causing the problem . They did not road test it properly , I would throw it back at them and say FIX IT ...

Ah... shame I didn’t see your reply at the beginning of the month. The guys have replaced the DPF now and, touch wood, it is running fine
