Default New owner oil. Question for S60 2.5t 2004

Hi, sorry for asking another oil question but struggling to use the search function with any success.

I have a 2004 S60 2.5t with 84,000mls (just purchased and my first volvo ) and I'm wanting to carry out a service but not sure which oil? Is it better to go for 0w or 5w30?

5w/30 A3/B4 is the usual , but if you want the best quality go for 0w/30 A5/B5 which may help with fuel consumption ( volvo recommendations)

Has anybody noticed better fuel consumption using the 0w30? Never thought about that, was going to go for 5w/30 as usually cheaper to buy but will go for 0w30 if it helps fuel economy. My 2001 s60 t5 auto is showing around 21 mpg on the computer display.

But in reality the difference between 5w and 0w must be tiny on its effect on the engine?

The difference is tiny, but every little helps

21mpg is pretty woeful, I guess you do quite a lot of town driving?

How many mpg should I be getting on different types of road? I don't think I have ever seen it go above low 20s. Do you have a s60 t5 as well?

Yes a fair bit of town driving but also dual carriageway.

Eurocarparts are doing 5 litre full synthetic 5w40 for 18.99. Not sure how permissible this would be to use?

Hello, Buy 5 of those. The price is right and the ACEA rating is 'good-to-go' for your turbo. Kira
