Default Anyone help? Driveshaft re-joining inner CV Joint

Hi All,

I do my own DIY on the car most small jobs. Anyway, I thought I would do the inner CV boot.

I have split the shaft which I didn’t mean to do, (It split whilst removing the shaft) anyway the joint has popped out.

I am having difficulty putting it back together. Well to be honest I only tried for few minutes and it started raining so, I thought I would post for tips before trying and potentially damaging it.

Should it just push back together? Or does it need a bit more force. I cannot see any circlips or anything which have come off, does it just push in as it is? I intend on cleaning it up with new grease before re-joining.

Any help as always is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Jon

It just pushes in.

May need to give it a light tap with a rubber mallet.

Ok thanks, i did try pushing it in and couldn't get it to push in. I will try again tomorrow. Block wood with a hammer and try light tapping? I did try bit force today and it didn't go in.
Thanks,

If I were you, I would clean bearings and their housing and put new grease in. And like already said, rubber mallet and little tapping helps.
