Default V50 2010 model - Headlights problem

Hi all

Not long bought a V50 2010 model and I love the car! The only problem is the dipped beam are always on. Even when the headlight knob is in the "0" position the dipped beam are turned on. I'm worried I will be going through bulbs at a massive rate!

Can anyone shed some light on this please?

Many thanks.

The headlights are always on with these...i think the later versions moved the DRL to the fog lights. Also to note, in the 'on' position, they will continue to be on but your headlight washers will spray too when you wash your windscreen

You must use the volvo long life H7 Bulbs for these , you should get 2 years+ out of them .
Buy cheap ones and you will be forever changing bulbs .

you Can get a volvo main dealer to set DRL = Off so the switch works as it should
despite the bS spouted by some dealers your car is Prior to the date where they are a requirement

Dont bother going to Johnsons of Shirley as the service departments attitude Stinks, lacking any manners as well "no we wont do that and anyway volvo are Not providing the software anymore" being the reply from the "oik" at the service desk. However , the Parts department at Johnsons of shirley are THE most helpful and friendly staff ive met to date in any volvo dealership "!"

Paul Rigby however "yes certainly , it doesnt take long to do, when would you like to book " ..

getting the "always on" turned off will help prolong the life of your reflectors silver colour coating,
and if someone can not see a car in good daylight , what is the guide dog doing driving, as the Highway code Covers all other weather conditions/times of day

Another option is to switch the parking lights on to save the headlight bulbs, but remember to turn them off as they'll stay on after the car is parked and locked

Thanks all

I shall leave it as is then. Luckily the bulbs are very easy to change.
