Ages ago I saw a proper HLC that had the string to open it with the boot, I've never taken a look if there was anything on the boot for it to go with.

on early ones yes i think it did but an item like that wont work, the HLC piece opens only at the very rear of the car, the rotation point for that ebay link will be right inside the car and you have no where to tag it to...on the hatch.

hahaha. well i did get told by my contact at the dealer to be called a mini tech...

but the rotation point is an obvious problem.

That link is not a C30 load cover.

The C30 load cover does not open when you open the rear hatch but you can use a piece of string to make it open when you open the hatch. I can go into more detail if you want.

I can get you a new hard load cover if you want for £140 but they are a bugger to wrap.

Just noticed your in redditch so no need for postage.
