Annoying buzzing from the ventilation and "tailgate open"
Hello,
After some approximately one hour of driving, especially in hilly terrain a buzzing noice appears. It comes from the front deck ventilation openings. It resembles sound of a damaged fan from a computer power supply which regulary touches the cover when rotating producing a sound like "brum...brum...brum...". Do you have this problem in your cars? I went to Volvo service where I was told that the problem was detected in the other V50s and that they are waiting for a specialist from Sweden, who will show them how to fix it. It was some time ago, and I am starting to think if they meant Santa Claus? ;-). The second problem must be with the tailgate sensors. If I shut it gently the warning appears. Volvo mechanic told me that fixing this would cause tailgate rattling and showed me how to close the tailgate to avoid the problem. Have experrinced the same problems? What did the Service tell you about it? Hearing the list members distrust towards V50 (Not a Swedish hardcore ;-) ) I am very happy to have these problems after first 14000 km. Best regards, Rafal |

Not noticed any buzzing sound from my V50, however my car was serviced on Monday of this week and the loan car (2.0D) did buzz at over 3000rpm. I thought it came from the dashboard or under bonnet. The other thing was a buzz that sounded more like the passenger side of the cabin. THis happed twice at about 60mph on motorway. It distinctly started and then stopped and sounded like electrical arcing.
Car had no other problems and drove fine in every way. Did you ask the mechanic what they thought the problem was, or what area they thought was at fault. If they've had it before they must have looked into it to some degree even if they can't decide the source. |
