Default The time old question of MPG

Hi all,
Sorry it's been a while since i was here last I had to go away for a bit.
So my brakes got sorted out by Mills Volvo (Stockton on Tees) for a reasonable £280 and some chatting up the reception girls. They all work perfectly now. But since the car has come back from them my MPG doesn't seem to be the same? I've not travelled a massive distance 2x 300mile journeys and just pottering around. Where as before I'd normally get 360miles to a tank I now only seem to be getting mid to high 200's!?

Does anyone have an explanation for this? I need to add more engine oil soon but it's still ok. Just a bit wierd!

Oh one last thing does anyone know how much clear c70 headlights would cost? I think they fit my 97 V70?

P.s I'm not complaining about MPG cos the car is still fantastic fun to drive!!!! :)

They may have disconnected the battery and the ecu will have to relearn its optimum settings. Or, the brakes are binding. You'll need to spin each wheel with it off the ground to find out.

i don't think resetting the ecu would lose that much mpg, i've done it and hardly noticed a difference!!!

i get 350miles out of a tank on my s70r, i would look for binding brakes ;(

If you do a search you should find a fair bit of info on the lights; a few folk have done the swap. All in I think it's about £500.

This Xmas i'm tavelling to 2 ski resorts, 1 in Austria and 1 in France so a 2000+Mile trip. I hope its back up to 350miles to a tank by then!!!!!;(

I hate to raise this one... but when I had a 15% drop in MPG, repeatable over every fill-up and every type of driving, it was the MAF sensor that had failed.

£260, and nasty lean running under boost until replaced!

Just a querie on MPG I have been trying my 850 T5 (96) and have done approx 280 miles on a full tank, this was mostly on A & B class roads and shortish journeys, would people agree that this would be about right!!!! works out at about 18 - 20 MPG (S**T)

Not sure. I did ask that question on here myself sometime ago and the impression I got was that people did the swop because they looked better, rather than because they wanted better lighting. I would expect that their should be some improvement in lighting but I'm afraid I can't say for sure. Perhaps someone out there who's fitted them will be able to confirm. I have a set of Volvo spot lights fitted on my car (pics in gallery) and I wouldn't expect the clear lense headlights to improve on them, but I'm looking to get the newer lights anyway for the aesthetic improvement.
