Default New member looking for touring car glory!

Hello everyone Im Mike from Manchester. Im toying with the idea of purchasing a volvo and have a few questions if thats ok.

Im looking for a weekend track car and I am considering an 850T5R, 850R and a 1st gen V70R AWD.

Im not too keen on the 850's as they are fwd. What do they handle like?

What sort of power distribution is the v70r awd 50:50?

Are there any weakness on these cars mentioned?

Do the tyre treads on the awd have to be very similar or will the 4wd not take the strain (similar to vauxhall 4x4 transfer boxes.)

Do any of these cars come with LSD?

What should I look out for and are there any buyers guides on the forum?
thanks

theres a buyers guide here http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showth...0+buyers+guide
i had an 850 up until 2 weeks ago, only a 2.5 10v, but i think the handling was fantastic, especially for a big estate. if you have a read on the 850 & performance part of the forum, youll come across threads about tuning the suspension as well as the engine,

Thanks for the link. Looks like only the 850R came with LSD. Does anyone have interior pics of them, inc the dash. What sort of price should I pay for a good one with 100k miles.

why not go for just a t5 and get it remapped? youll be looking at circa 300+bhp! and theyre cheaper and more common! the 850r's are quite sought after, i think around £3000 to £4000 for an 850r and around £1500 to £2000 for the equivelent t5!

The T5 doesnt have all the tweeks the R has, it would cost more modding the car to get it to the same level. The only point id consider a normal t5, would be to get a t5 estate and make a BTCC replica

How come you're after an 850 T5 (r) if you've never experienced one?

You need to realise that the V70 R AWD is slower in standard form than both the V70R and the 850 T5. 0-60 time is 8.1 seconds...that's what put me off going for one.

What is the difference between an 850r and 855r?

Im after a t5r because its a car ive liked for many years but I have been put off by front wheel drive.

Even with the extra weight and transmission loss, I would prefer the handling advantage than speed.

Parkers states 0-60 is 7.1 seconds, is this incorrect?

Hi, i have an 850 T5R, fantastic performance and handling. I love her to bits, i am getting married in March and have her up for sale (i have company car). If you are interested go to piston heads or Auto trader, i have about six pictures and they show her off fantastically.
