Hey Pierre -

Wonder why they call it "Ministry" - I thought a ministry was supposed to be helpful ! Apologies if I am being a Yank and not respecting the folks at the ministry.

Did you clean out the VVT Solenoid ? <pic> , I cleaned mine 2-3 times. I also use Red Line injector cleaner in my gas tank several times a year. It will really makes the engine run smoother, but if you have old spark plugs or other fouled stuff - the smooth run only lasts a month or so.

Update: I was chasing down an oil leak in between the oil plan and the transmission so I popped off the oil pan and re-sealed it.

The bad news is that it didn't fix the leak (I think it is the RMS).

The good news is that 3 days later the CEL turned off and hasn't come back on. Go figure. I don't really believe in coincidences when it comes to car work. I'm wondering if maybe the two seals on the oil pan were going and replacing those addressed a minor oil pressure issue? Who knows. If it stays off though, it was definitely the oil pan work that did it.

Thank you for this, Tom. My solenoid was brand new. So you have had good luck with Red Line - that's good to hear. I tried using the Lucas product a while back and I could have sworn things were smoother too.

As for "ministry" yeah, never thought about it but it is an odd term to use.
