Default Flywheel - 850 or S70/V70

Hi,

Chasing a flat flywheel (not dual mass) from a 850 or S70/V70? Anyone got one that they're looking at getting rid of? It's for a T4 engine to M90 gearbox conversion.

Thanks, that would be appreciated and very handy being close.

Should maybe have said, to take the 240mm clutch.

If that doesn't work our I've also got one I recently removed. Originally from a 2.5l 20V normallly aspirated 850, it then ran for a year on my 850R, with its larger clutch. Don't have measurements to hand but should be possible if necessary.

Cheers, Pete

Thanks Pete, google tells me there is a 228mm or a 240mm clutch but not sure what was fitted to the 850.

Hi,

had a chance to measure the shiny surface on my flywheel - the inner one could well be 228mm, which will have happened with the smaller n/a clutch, and there is also evidence of a 2nd shiny area of 240mm diameter, which will have been my 850R clutch (OEM Sachs).

HTH, Pete

Thanks Pete, It sounds like the flywheel will be fine, is it like the one in the attached pic?

I'll see if 440-turbo comes back as he is just up the road from me so nice and handy, but if it doesn't happen I'll be back in touch.

Hi,

yes (without having mine in front of me) that picture does look a match.

In fact, here's a few shots of mine from when I swapped it from a donor car to my car last Easter, plus a couple of an 850R clutch vs n/a clutch if it helps:

Flywheel being removed from n/a donor car:

850R clutch and driven plate (left) vs n/a clutch and driven plate (right):

n/a clutch in 850R driven plate (left) vs 850R clutch on n/a driven plate (right):

n/a flywheel on my 850R:

850R clutch fitted to n/a flywheel:

Hi Pete,

That helps heaps thanks. I'm just trying to sort out what flywheel and clutch assembly I'll require and I think the 850R clutch assembly is what I need to match up the 850 flat flywheel for the T4 to M90. Which gearbox we’re you running there? I don’t know much about the 850 etc. The 2.5l is a whiteblock engine isn’t it?

All white block engines (the 2.5l n/a and the 2.3 turbo). My engine has run an Aisin-Warner 4-speed (model number something like AW50-42 I think), then an M56H from a 2.5l n/a, then briefly an M59 with viscous coupling diff. Long story short it's now back to an M56H but with a Quaife. All the manuals were run with the 850R clutch.

Cheers, Pete
