THanks Coconut, that's sort of how I experienced it myself as well.
Just to add to the tips:
- To keep the bar in place without having to hold it up underneath the car, I put a luggage strap at each end of the bar so I could pull the bar up towards the car rather than lifting by hand
- Fortunately I have a collection of air-tools and an air-ratchet is brilliant to use for the bolts inside the car

Default Tow Trust Tow Bar

Does anyone have any experience of the Tow Trust detachable tow bar?

It says in its fitting instructions that no cut out is required at all.

Thanks in anticipation.

I have the volvo fitted detachable. This comes with a simple plastic insert and is hardly noticeable. More importantly i carry 3 downhill mtbs ona pendle wheel support rack. Pendle are slightly cheaper than thule a bit more industrial and obviously designed by an engineer ie no curves or refinement. Whats the saying form follows function?

I've just got my XC90 MY11 Exec this week - my first Volvo and my first experience with a tow-bar.

The dealer option cost €695 fitted - probably not the cheapest, but I've no time at all to arse about looking for cheaper ones, plus I wanted in the warranty.

Seems to be done very nicely to me, although nothing for me to compare it against. Attached are some photos. I intend to use it purely for bike-rack as I find placing cycles on the top of these high cars quite difficult...
